Sustainability & Community Tourism at Red Panda Outpost

Beyond offering a retreat for travelers, Red Panda Outpost is committed to fostering a unique ecotourism model that benefits both the land and the local community.

Jaubari is home to just 15 families, and we aim to involve all of them in some way or the other to create a positive impact. Choosing to stay with us helps provide meaningful employment to the locals, who work with us in various capacities. Despite our remote location, every guest at Red Panda Outpost is made to feel at home in this quaint little village.

By integrating the villagers’ knowledge and skills and training them further, we aim to create a self-sustaining model that not only supports the inhabitants of this mountain village, but also enhances the visitor experience and strengthens the region’s conservation efforts.

We believe that the locals residing in and around these forests are the torch bearers for their preservation and protection; without their support and integration, no species conservation is possible. But through our combined efforts, we strive to make Jaubari village a role model for eco-tourism. Every stay at the outpost directly contributes to the protection of the red panda and its fragile habitat, ensuring that this landscape will remain a thriving sanctuary for generations to come.

Conservation is at the heart of our mission: whether it's helping protect the elusive red panda or safeguarding the forests and wildlife that make this region so special. As part of our ethos, we alsopractice responsible tourism, including strict no-use of tape lures during birdwatching - a method that can cause undue stress to birds and disrupt their natural behavior. Instead, we encourage quiet observation and patience, allowing guests to experience the magic of the wild in its most authentic form.
